"I WISH I HAD PAID MORE ATTENTION TO AUNT BETTY WHILE SHE WAS LIVING"

"I WONDER WHY SHE DIDN’T TELL ME I AM MY OWN HALF 4TH COUSIN"

Welcome to my homepage. My name is Alton Gayle Rogers. I have been exposed to genealogy practically all my life through "Aunt Betty" but didn’t know it. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I was in the US Army three years and in the US Air Force, 15 months during the Korean war. I am happily married to Ladene Mary McDonald, from Parnell, Iowa, and have been since 1951. We have six children and thirteen grandchildren. We live on the Texas Gulf Coast in the City of Manvel, which is about twenty miles south of Houston. I worked as a Reg. Professional Sanitarian (Epidemiologist) for the City of Houston Health Dept., thirty years, before retiring in 1983. Our six children thought I didn’t have enough to do and almost worked me to death. To save myself I went back to work for the Brazoria County Health Dept. where I worked another ten years and retired again in February 1996. Now I have learned to say "NO", I am just going to do what I want which is my genealogy. My cousin James Ray Gayle got me started in earnest, about 1985, when he returned from Maryland and brought with him a family outline of GEORGE GALE, the first Gale in my ancestry, who arrived in the colonies in 1690. From there it has just blossomed. I use FAMILY TREE MAKER ver. 2006 and M.S. WORD 2007.

Disclaimer: Naturally, I cannot make any claims about the accuracy of my data. I have obtained information from numerous places including Family hand me down records, Official Courthouse records,  Latter Day Saints (Mormon), other websites, Family Tree Maker CD'S, etc.
